Wee Care Program

Free Well-Child Care for Baby’s First Year

The Wee Care Program was created by Coeur d’Alene Pediatrics to help families in North Idaho get high-quality check-ups and preventive care for their babies—at no cost during the first year of life.

This program is designed for families who do not have health insurance or whose insurance doesn’t cover well-child visits. 

What’s included:

• Regular well-baby checkups
• All recommended immunizations
• Preventive lab tests (like lead and iron levels)
• Preventative Care based on guidelines from our pediatricians and the American Academy of Pediatrics

What’s not included:

• Sick visits (for colds, fevers, ear infections, etc.)
• Follow-up visits for issues found during a check-up
• Any care not considered routine or preventive

Wee Care is focused on keeping your baby healthy through regular checkups, vaccines, and screenings. For anything outside of that, separate costs may apply.

How to Apply for Wee Care

To apply for the Wee Care Program, follow these simple steps:

1. Apply for Idaho Medicaid
   Before you can be considered for Wee Care, you must first apply for Idaho Medicaid.

4. If Medicaid is Denied:
   If your child is not approved for Medicaid, keep your Final Determination Letter (the letter stating your denial).
   
5. Bring or send this letter in its entirety to Coeur d’Alene Pediatrics. 
6. This letter will serve as your application for the Wee Care Program.

9. If approved, Wee Care coverage will start from the approval date forward—it cannot be backdated.
10. Any medical costs before the start date will remain your responsibility.
