Child Safety Information

Preventable injuries are the #1 killer of kids in the U.S. Every year, 8,000 families lose a child because of a preventable injury. When a child dies, the lives of families are changed forever. This is a problem we can fix. No parent should have to endure the loss of a child. Help us give all children the chance to grow up and become whatever they can imagine.

A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury. Concussions are caused by a bump or blow to the head. Even a “ding,” “getting your bell rung,” or what seems to be a mild bump or blow to the head can be serious

 Injury Prevention

Safe Kids Kootenai County is led by Kootenai Health, which provides dedicated and caring staff, operation support and other resources to assist in achieving our common goal: keeping your kids safe. Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car-seat checkups, safety workshops and sports clinics, that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.
